It’s no surprise that the Cannes Film Festival is all about the movies. But since most people won’t be seeing many of the productions until later this year, it makes sense our focus is easily stolen by the red carpet.
The director and festival had reportedly come under pressure from Iranian authorities to pull the film from the competition. However, it was confirmed last week that Rasoulof had managed to flee Iran, arriving safely in France via Germany in time for the premiere. “That’s what persuaded me to leave Iran. I had to go on with this mission. I feel that my mission is to connect the audiences of the world to these stories, to this Iranian narrative. This is my plan for the coming years.”The former Destiny’s Child member was reportedly told by an usher to “get off” the red carpet before the premiere ofearlier this week.
