Fresh off releasing their first album in five years Friday, the folk act performed the three songs that comprise the middle section of the nine-track LP: “Orion’s Belt,” “Country Kid,” and “Forever Now.”finds the band reuniting with longtime collaborator and producer Rick Rubin, who steers the group in surprisingly happier directions on their 11th studio LP of original music.

The review added, “Those sorts of lurches between the solemn and the silly are any band’s right. But they’re especially jarring with the Avetts, since their somber moments are ultimately their most distinctive. When they wrap things up with ‘We Are Loved,’ the results are more cloying than usual. But for these guys, at least it confirms the importance of still being earnest.”
The Avett Brothers are in the midst of a summer-long North American tour in support of the self-titled LP, with Sierra Ferrell accompanying them on the road on their recent dates.
