Nearly 150 dogs are looking for homes. The Chula Vista Animal Care Facility, at 130 Beyer Way, has seen a considerable influx of animals lost or in need of care in recent years, and is now facing 'an urgent situation.' Adoptable dogs are spayed or neutered, microchipped and vaccinated.

The Friends group sells the donations at its three bookstores; at the Thursday Oceanside Farmers Market; and through an Amazon store.
