Sarah Vine says having a baby in the UK is a 'tricky experience'

Having a baby in the UK is a 'difficult and tricky experience' and is putting mothers off having further children, according to the Mail's talk show, The Reaction.

The mother-of-two said a lot of midwives are 'dismissive, rude, who treat women like pieces of meat', adding: 'There is a fundamental lack of respect for your body as a woman.' The Reaction hosts were speaking after the publication of a report laying bare the 'shockingly poor quality' of maternity services.

Co-host Pierce added: 'As a man, what shocked me most is that it is the norm for a woman to have a bad experience.'The all-party inquiry was led by Conservative MP Theo Clarke and Labour MP Rosie DuffieldShe said she was told 'pain relief was unnecessary' and 'if I were a good mother, I didn't need it because I would be birthing properly'.
