Iconic Los Angeles punk band X will bring their "Smoke and Fiction Tour" to the Kent Stage on July 17, 2024. The band last performed in in Greater Cleveland in the summer of 2023, putting on a strong and fun 75-minute show at the House of Blues. That concert featured a 22-song set that spanned their fabled 40-year career and showed that John Doe, Exene Cervenka, Billy Zoom and D.J.
The band’s “Smoke and Fiction Tour” will feature the original lineup that formed in 1977 of singer Exene Cervenka, bassist-singer John Doe, drummer DJ Bonebreak and guitarist Billy Zoom. The quartet recorded classic early ‘80s albums, including “Los Angeles,” “Under The Big Black Sun” and “Wild Gift.”
The group’s most recent release of new material was 2020′s “Alphabetland,” their first in 35 years, featuring a guest guitar from Robby Krieger, former member of The Doors, whose keyboardist Ray Manzarek produced X’s first four albums. “Alphabetland” was well received by critics and fans as both “classic” and “mature” and is available on the band’s
