The star, who found fame in the '80s children's TV series Supergran playing a grandma with superpowers, hailed from Stirlingshire, Scotland, and kicked off her acting career in an impressive array of series such as Casualty and Midsomer Murders since 1951.
Reminiscing their last meeting in December, McNeill shared that the veteran actress was excited about the news of rebooting the classic TV show into a modern film and could remember stars like George Best appearing on the popular show, reports the Mirror. A sixth labelled her as "a serious granny" and said: "RIP." Another simply penned: "Childhood memories," while another fan declared: "She was and always be a legend."
Born on March 12, 1926, she once played Desdemona to Orson Welles' Othello. She also had starring roles in the 1954 film Man with a Million and in TV shows Garry Halliday and Armchair Theatre.
