Beyond Light News

The Final Shape,Bungie,Forsaken

I’ve been writing about video games, television and movies for Forbes for over 10 years, and you may have seen my reviews on Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic. I cover all manner of console and PC games, but if it’s about looting or shooting, I’m definitely there. If I’m watching something, it’s usually science fiction, horror or superheroic.

This past week Bungie announced that it was letting players play three expansions and the last four seasons of Destiny 2 for free until the launch of The Final Shape on June 4. But now they’ve gone a step further toThat would be Shadowkeep and Beyond Light, the oldest two expansions that are currently available, with Forsaken shoved in the content vault along with the base release Red War campaign when Beyond Light itself came out.

Once again, this is yet another thing that I have been saying for years, that it’s long past time that Bungie make its oldest expansions and Stasis itself free, and I have not been alone in voicing that opinion. Even if itjust the campaign, it opens up actual, free, significant story content for the f2p playerbase which has been lost in the woods since content vaulting took away the Red War and Forsaken. Those are likely never coming back, despite this recent granting of wishes by Bungie.

Bungie is throwing all their eggs into The Final Shape launching as a huge success. They are pulling out every single stop to do this, and I applaud the effort. I hope it pays off.
