A cyclist left disabled by a nasty crash on a Melbourne bike path has been left thousands of dollars out of pocket by a legal loophole. Rohan Cresp’s shoulder was shattered when a pedestrian stepped in front of his bike and he was thrown to the ground.
Melbourne’s bike lane loophole exposed. The pain was instant and when he went to move it, all he could hear was grinding noises. “I thought ‘I’m in big trouble here’,” he told 7NEWS. He required five operations and there is another on the horizon, but the pain is set to continue. Cresp isn’t covered by Victoria’s Transport Accident Commission because the incident happened on a bike path, not a bike lane, and did not involve a car.
