Australian Olympian Alyce Wood has shared her “mum’s guilt” of being on the other side of the world while her two-year-old daughter was hospitalised. The star canoeist recently flew to Europe to continue her preparations for the Olympics in Paris, but was dealt some incredibly tough news on her arrival. Her daughter Florence was hospitalised after a severe case of vomiting and could barely recognise her when they FaceTimed.
” “The Mum guilt was real and all I wanted to do was turn around and go back to Australia, but I knew I had a job to do and she was in the best possible hands with Jordan and my Mum and Dad.” Wood added that her daughter recovered quickly, but it still “sucked” not being able to be there. “Fast forward to today and she’s out of the worst of it and almost back to her normal self, doing my hair and blowing me kisses through the phone.
