She is gone. Mrs. Comfort Ayonshigboritsetse Okotie nee Amuka Pemu died on the 15th of February, 2024 and was buried on April 19th, 2024 in Warri, Delta State. It was Abraham Lincoln who said “It is not the years in your life that counts. It is the life in your years.” Sisi Comfort’s burial rites from the beginning to the end was a monumental success. She was aged 99 years.
Although, she had no formal education but she was greatly endowed with native intelligence, that is, what the English call intellectual capital. And so, she made absolutely sure all her children were educated to any level they deemed fit. Because of the highest form of integrity she had, almost all her children inherited this virtuous trait from her.
Of the six children she bore, four of them attended the prestigious Government College, Ughelli, Delta State. The remaining two are females. There was this particular incident as told in the memorial church service at Christ African Church. The Landlord of the compound Mama Comfort lived, wanted to sell the compound Mama was living in due to some financial misfortunes, Sisi Comfort insisted and discouraged him from selling the compound at No 7 Urhobo Road, Warri by giving him the money required.
Despite her busy schedule, she found time for all of the children at Urhobo Road, Daudu Area in Warri. Mama was very generous with her time, financial resources and food. Every child was welcomed to join in the eating at her house. Her doors were open to anyone who came to visit and spend the night with her own children.
