“Star Wars” actor Mark Hamill, famous for his portrayal of Luke Skywalker, stopped at the White House Friday and left with a pair of President Joe Biden’s aviator sunglasses. Biden, meanwhile, got a new nickname. “I love the merch,” he said, taking off the glasses during a quick appearance at the White House daily press briefing following his visit with Biden. Hamill, 72, kidded with reporters that he’d take a few questions — as long as they weren’t about “Star Wars,”
Neither Hamill nor the White House were clear about why the actor was invited for a visit, AP said. Hamill, a Democrat and Biden supporter with a huge social media following, has been posting about the president’s re-election campaign this week., an unofficial holiday based on “May the fourth be with you,” a pun riffing off one of the Star Wars series most famous lines.“I was honored to be asked to come to the White House to meet the president,” Hamill said afterward.
