Good morning, and welcome to the U-T Arts & Culture Newsletter. I’m David L. Coddon, and here’s your guide to all things essential in San Diego’s arts and culture this week. Truth is stranger than fiction, especially when the filmmaking genre is “true fiction.” That’s what Spring Valley’s Devin and Jeannie Scott call their 25-minute film “Long Live Xander the Great.

I couldn’t find any details as to who will be on the dais, but I’ve got a couple of suggestions: How about Gisele Bündchen, for one? And NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, who suspended Brady over “Deflategate” in 2016, for another? At the risk of sounding another plug for Netflix, its annual Netflix Is A Joke comedy festival is under way in Los Angeles and running through May 12 at venues of various sizes all over the city and one in Pasadena .
