Judith Hill writes about being called a 'black widow' after the death of Michael Jackson and Prince on her new album 'Letters from a Black Widow.'

Judith Hill had writer’s block for a long time after her last tour. After releasing “Baby, I’m Hollywood!” in 2021, she came home to Los Angeles after taking it on the road and was struggling to come up with what to write about next.

Hill had largely tried to avoid letting the public’s attention get to her. Yet while on a mushroom trip in the mountains with friends, she suddenly had a vision of a mountain of pain, one “I had thought I had gotten rid of,” she says. “The record dives into both and allows me to confront myself at the same time as I’m confronting society,” she says. “It’s a messy process, and the record allows mess.”
