Presenter Sally Nugent apologised on the episode of BBC Breakfast on Tuesday 30 April as a guest swore on live television.
Raymond was the author of children’s books, his most notable being The Snowman. Following his death two years ago, an exhibition showcasing his creations is due to open in East Sussex. "I was very good at churning it out and he only had one deadline a year and I had seven, eight a week. And so we kind of had this mutual regard which was great, it was mainly taking the p*** out of each other but he was such great fun, I mean his art history is so much to be proud of, but it's all on show in this show here."
Despite her apology, viewers were unhappy with the language and some went to social media to make their feelings known. One wrote: "Having to explain what 'Taking the p***' means to my two kids as we are watching a segment on Raymond Briggs. Thanks for the swearing, you complete imbecile.”It’s not the first time in April that viewers have been upset with BBC Breakfast, on Tuesday 16 April the show faced a wave of criticism after an interview with former Prime Minister, Liz Truss.
