“The auteurs included function as stand-ins for all the talented filmmakers who have given Ewing and other Cinematheque-goers so much pleasure for so many years,” the theater said in a press release. But, wait, there’s more. Ewing has also programmed a concurrent farewell series leading up to his last day on June 30. The “Movie Crazy” lineup consists of seven films “that spotlight different aspects of movie mania— from making, collecting and preserving them to exhibiting or just plain watching them,” he says. “It’s a valedictory valentine to cinema.”
