A group have made a costly mistake while camping on K’gari in Queensland, losing their four-wheel-drive caught in high tide. The group was holidaying at Coongal Creek on the western side of the island when they got into trouble. The Jeep became completely submerged underwater. Fraser Island Towing and Rainbow Beach Towing came to the group’s aide. The towing companies had to practice “extra caution due to the unforgiving terrain on that side of the island”, Fraser Island Towing said.
“So either they drove into an extremely soft bog hole, or they had no idea what they were doing.” Another user said it looked like they had attempted a U-turn in soft sand and got bogged. “It’s hard not to be judgemental but possibly some inexperience here,” they said. “Inexperience leading to bad outcomes.” Others expressed confusion over why the four-wheel-drive was not disconnected from the trailer and recovered on its own. However, some people were sympathetic.
