Police are investigating the discovery of what is believed to be a human skull at a fishing spot in WA’s Kimberley region. The cranium was found near Beagle Bay, about 130km north of Broome, before a report was made to Dampier Peninsula Police on Saturday. “Police were notified by a member of the public that a skull had been located near Beagle Bay,” a police spokesperson said. “Police attended the location in company with a Nyul Nyul Ranger.
au that inquiries are ongoing. It is understood a child who had been with a group that was fishing for salmon came across the skull buried in sand. “There are already bones we know of that are there that we look after and make sure people don’t disturb,” a Nyul Nyul ranger told The West Australian. “It’s not surprising to find new ones.” The ranger, who asked to remain anonymous, is working with local elders as the remains could belong to an Aboriginal person.
