Sioux City Journal entertainment reporter Bruce Miller talks with 'Under the Bridge' executive producers Quinn Shephard and Samir Mehta. 'Under the Bridge' is an eight episode series on Hulu.

Co-star Riley Keough had an interesting route to the project, as well. Executive Producer Samir Mehta met his neighbor taking out the trash. Mehta said he was working on “Under the Bridge” and the neighbor said, “I’m actually friends with Riley Keough. It sounds like she’d be pretty good for this.”Gladstone plays a police officer investigating the death of a 14-year-old girl. Keough stars as Godfrey, researching the role for a book.

“It’s very sensitive and it really makes you aware how real this was to everyone who experienced it,” Shephard says. “When we saw that, we were like, ‘How fascinating that this woman got very absorbed by the story,’” Shephard says. “The same thing very gradually happened to both of us. It’s such a dark place to have to go to mentally that it really does become a part of your soul…and you become aware of the responsibility of it.”
