Historic preservationists and architecture enthusiasts could soon own their own slice of American history at a bargain price. A historic manor home has been listed for sale for just $US10 , putting it in the running for one of the world’s cheapest homes. But at such a low price, comes an expensive catch — the land does not come with it. This means the brave buyer will need to pay to remove the home from the block, and relocate it elsewhere.
With distinct Spanish Mission-style architecture, the building was a working hospital until the late 1940s, and served the community through World War I and II, and during the Spanish Flu and polio pandemics, according to Domain. The seller is reportedly adding $US100,000 towards the relocation costs, with the local community also campaigning to save the building by setting up a restoration advocacy group. Moving the building is not the only curveball faced by future owners.
