SYDNEY, N.S. — The Cape Breton Music Industry Cooperative will announce the inductees for this year’s Cape Breton Music Industry Hall of Fame class next week.Its inaugural class last year saw the likes of Rita MacNeil, Matt Minglewood, the Men of the Deeps and the Buddy MacDonald song “Getting Dark Again” be inducted for “their profound impact on the development of Cape Breton music, as well as its recognition around the world,” according to a press release from the CBMIC.

Details of the gala show as part of the inductions will also be revealed next week. The event is intended to raise money to “support CBMIC’s mission to invest in music access and education, professional music development, and the promotion and preservation of Cape Breton’s unique musical culture.
