Scorsese and the Sinatra estate have had a long history of disagreeing with one another. In 2014, Scorsese was looking to make a biopic on the iconic singer, but was blocked by his estate. A studio is not yet attached to the project, though Variety reports Sony is said to be the current frontrunner.
Variety also reports that the film could “hit some snags” as Sinatra’s daughter, Tina Sinatra, controls her late father’s estate and has not yet signed off on the project. DiCaprio has reportedly been tapped to play the legendary singer in Scorsese’s new movie, while Lawrence will portray Sinatra’s second wife, Ava Gardner.
