'Dreams become reality' as Rough Trade opens in 'perfect' city

Music fans and intrigued onlookers alike flocked to the opening of Liverpool’s newest music shop today.

There is also a bar serving coffee and beer for later in the day, in addition to numerous music related-books and merchandise. Furthermore, an artwork was on display in the design of a train network, with stops referring to Liverpool's famous bands and music venues. Ace has been to Rough Trade shops before, but argued the Liverpool venue had really impressed him. He said: “I really like the Bristol one, I used to go quite a lot. With the university connections, it’s quite a good thing for Liverpool.”

“Liverpool is the capital of music I think. It's paramount that vinyl is on the growth. I think it's good to have the digital kind of music with iTunes and Spotify, but there's nothing more satisfying than holding that vinyl, smelling the sleeve and the excitement to open it and see what's inside.” Rich said work began to open in the city two years ago and was hit with some delays, but claimed that hard work had paid off. The Hanover Street site was identified as the right place in January last year.
