Metro says they denied their public records request due to several exceptions, including Rule 16 which states there is still an open criminal investigation.

They spoke against anything related to the shooting being released, as they feel the school security and safety exemption applies to the whole investigative file. On Wednesday, we are expected to hear from the attorney representing The Covenant School parents, as well as a rebuttal from the petitioners.At the same time, there is alsoThe Tennessee Star filed a federal lawsuit against the FBI for the release of these writings. The federal judge ordered the FBI to turn over the shooter's writings to the court. This means a judge will review them and determine if they should be released.
