are seeking public proposals for an art installation to honour the former nursing school's history and legacy of caring in celebration of its 98-year history.
The original work of art will tell the rich story of the Aberdeen Hospital School of Nursing, set against the historical context that shaped the lives and times of its graduates, and will be installed next year at the former site of the nursing school residence on the grounds of the Aberdeen Hospital on East River Road in New Glasgow.
The Pictou County community came together to build the Aberdeen Hospital and Nursing School. In November 1895, an appeal was sent out to the people of New Glasgow, Stellarton, Westville, Trenton and Pictou County outlining the urgent need for a general hospital and a contagious disease annex.
