A woman has died, and two others hospitalised after consuming a drink the victim’s family believed contained mushrooms at a retreat near Ballarat in Victoria. Rachael Dixon, 53, went into cardiac arrest after ingesting the drink and died about midnight on Sunday at a health retreat on Fraser St in Clunes.

Two other people were taken to Ballarat Base Hospital for observation but have since been discharged. “Investigations remain ongoing and police will prepare a report for the coroner,” Victoria Police said. 7NEWS spoke to Dixon’s son and ex-husband, who claimed the drink contained mushrooms. This has not been confirmed by police. Dixon’s son claimed the drink was prepared at the retreat and given to the group.
