Unbelievable video has emerged of the moment the roof of a Perth shopping centre collapsed as heavy rain and flash flooding caused chaos in parts of the city. The roof of the Ocean Keys Shopping Centre in Clarkson collapsed under the weight of the intense rain on Friday afternoon, with the outer northern suburb hit particularly hard. Video also shows cars in one Clarkson street almost completely submerged.
Department of Fire and Emergency Services District Officer Glenn Hall said some areas had received 100mm of rain in under an hour. He said the areas of Clarkson and Butler were the worst affected. “Specifically, there’s some local roads which have been impacted by flash flooding,” Hall said. “There’s one area that we’re concentrating on which is the intersection of Connolly Dr and Riverlinks Dr. “It’s a low and all the water has collected at that point.
