AFL: David King has provided his thoughts on the Essendon Bombers and where they are going wrong with their start to the 2024 season.

After a listless showing against Port Adelaide, it appears Brad Scott’s Essendon will try its luck with the same tall set-up on Friday night against the Western Bulldogs.

“The more you look at , the more you think ‘you know what, this is a long way from the finished product’ — how long is it going to take?” King asked. “We’ve talked about their ability to move the footy — last year second-best in the competition,” King continued. “I look down the line. If you’re going to play wide, where are your targets?” he asked. “Because if you don’t have tall targets or reference points, every play ends up being manufactured on the run, and you have to try and use your kicking skills.”
