Billie Eilish has said she is 'nervous and excited' as she announced her third album will be released next month. The US singer-songwriter said Hit Me Hard And Soft will be out on 17 May and appeared to suggest new tracks will not be released before the record. The previous album by Eilish, who collaborates with her brother Finneas O'Connell, was 2021's Happier Than Ever.
Her website says the record should be listened to chronologically so it does what the title says and 'hits you hard and soft both lyrically and sonically, while bending genres and defying trends along the way'. Her debut studio album - When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? - was released in 2019. The 22-year-old star released the Barbie song What Was I Made For? in 2023, which earned her a second best original song Oscar alongside O'Connell at this year's Academy Awards.
