Fresh details emerge in Fremantle defender Jordan Clark’s dissent rule controversy

Fremantle captain Alex Pearce has revealed the umpire at the centre of the Jordan Clark dissent rule saga did not actually hear what Clark said. Umpire Alex Whetton punished Clark and the Dockers as chaos descended upon the club’s clash with Carlton following a botched call that handed the Blues a goal and ultimately coast Fremantle the game.

” Clark later said he was talking to himself and not the umpire and News Corp reported that Clark had said: “F****** idiot, Jordan.” The AFL is standing by the umpire’s dissent call and popular social media account ‘Has the umpire made A Bad decision’ has also said the call was correct. “A key indicator for dissent is how long the carry-on is,” the account said. “We can’t hear what is said. But dissent is paid approximately 40 seconds after the original mark decision.
