A search for a young woman missing after she fell from a waterfall in the NSW Southern Highlands is now most likely a recovery mission for a body. The 21-year-old woman slipped and fell about 100m into the water below while hiking near Belmore Falls in Robertson about 1pm on Sunday. An initial search had to be called off because of poor weather and fading light on Sunday afternoon.
The search resumed on Monday and has now entered a third day on Tuesday, with NSW Police conceding rescue crews are now most likely searching for a body. The waterfall, which plunges about 77m-130m across three drops, is a popular attraction for tourists. NSW National Parks and Wildlife has closed the falls until Wednesday to assist emergency services in the search. Jeisson Leon, a 28-year-old Colombian man, died in September last year after falling from a cliff while abseiling at Belmore Falls.
