The Richmond-San Rafael Bridge was closed temporarily in February after chunks of concrete fell from the upper deck.
“I’m concerned and disappointed at the pace of repairs,” said Assemblyman Vince Fong , vice chairman of the Assembly Transportation Committee. “Californians are rightfully upset.” “Due to normal wear and tear on our system, and the gradual and methodical inspection procedures, these reports will not instantaneously reflect the historic and crucial investment of SB 1 funding into our state highway system,” said Lindsey Hart, a Caltrans spokeswoman.
“When we debated SB 1,” Fong said, “one of our biggest arguments was we need real structural reforms to fast track the use of transportation dollars to build infrastructure.” In 2019, Caltrans is scheduled to begin improving or replacing an additional 378 state-owned bridges statewide, officials said.football-sized pieces of concrete fell
Shocked that within just one year the number didn't go down, eh? How long do you think it takes to fix a bridge the size of that one in your photo?
you mean more money given to the government didn't solve the problem? I'm shocked
Quit bitching about delays. Hard work on projects like these takes a long time. You want to speed it up? Prohibit lawsuits that make everyone lose. Like if a sign isn’t placed perfectly or a crosswalk wasn’t in the right place. This stuff is difficult. Be patient.
Nor to mention pissing away money on the damn 'bullet train.' Union greed and graft
aidanaras deferred maintenance is everywhere
This was a sham from the start.
The politicians in California are out of control when it comes to raising taxes. They don’t understand that tax hikes will never solve a problem. The mismanagement of the existing funds is the key to the financial crisis.
That gas tax is probably a slosh fund for the 2020 Dem campaign. 😂
