The boss of Coronation Street has spoken up after an actor said the show is not "worth watching" anymore. Fans of the soap have been vocal in recent months as Corrie dives into darker storylines, from Roy Cropper accidentally implicating himself in the apparent murder of Lauren Bolton to Paul Foreman's battle with Motor Neurone Disease and Toyah Battersby's upcoming revelation that she buried a stillborn child 20 years prior.
Meanwhile, another commented: "This isnt coronation street we know. One dark story a year surrounded by human stories and the traditional corrie comedy with mini drama around it but all we get is violence and dark stories for ratings bait." According to The Daily Star, he said: "I watched it from day one, but now my wife says it's not worth watching. You can't have that many murders on one street. It's not the actors' fault. They're all doing a good job, but it's the writers that have changed."
