Melbourne star Kysaiah Pickett will come under scrutiny for a head-high bump during Thursday night’s clash against Adelaide. During the second quarter, Pickett jumped up high in an attempt to smother a handball from Crow Jake Soligo and as he landed his upper arm made contact with Soligo’s face.

Pickett collects Soligo high. Soligo briefly went to ground, but was able to quickly get to his feet and the umpire paid a free kick down the field. Pickett could be seen apologising to his opponent after the incident. “You have to be so careful when you leave the ground these days,” former Geelong captain Joel Selwood said in commentary for Channel 7. Given the AFL’s crackdown on head-high incidents, it will no doubt be looked at by the match review officer.
