Steve Wright died suddenly in February BBC Radio 2 has finally announced who will replace beloved host Steve Wright following his death. The legendary DJ died on Monday, February 12, at the age of 69, after paramedics were called to his Marylebone home following an ‘incident.’ Early Breakfast show presenter Nicki Chapman temporarily took over Wright’s Sunday Love Songs slot following his death, but the station has finally announced who will take over the role from Chapman.

The Top Gear star has recently been sitting in for Rylan Clark on Saturday afternoons and presented two shows over the Easter weekend, preparing to take on his own show. He said: ‘I’ve loved keeping Rylan’s seat warm on Saturday afternoons and returning to the airwaves over Easter. ‘To be given my very own regular show on the legendary Radio 2 is a dream come true.
