Incarnate Word High School sophomore Sofia Medrano created IWHS Boutique, a pop-up where Lanier High School students can choose from 300 dresses.

For the past three months, a former dorm room at Incarnate Word High School has slowly filled with glitzy garb. Dozens of dresses hang from the walls and more hang on wardrobe racks, some enclosed in dry cleaning bags. There's a black cocktail dress with a sleek silver swirl on one shoulder, a red gown with ruffles at the neckline and a fluttery lilac number with tiny gems stitched into the bodice.

West Side campus music building for SA mariachi legend Belle Ortiz Faculty members donated attire, and so did some current and former students. At least one Lanier graduate donated as well. One member of IWHS' class of 2008 urged her classmates to donate, Sofia said. 'She and her sister donated some dresses, and she was saying these dresses made me and my sister so happy that we just want to make someone else happy with them,' Sofia said.
