Texas State University’s baseball team is taking a step into the past with retro uniforms inspired by the school’s bygone era. The maroon and gold throwback uniforms bearing Southwest Texas logos were revealed on the team’s social media page Friday, “Love it,” Letha Phillips Doiron wrote. “That’s the school I went to, not Texas State.” Texas State got its start as Southwest Texas State in 1899, but the school dropped the “Southwest” part of its name in 2003.
Fans of the nostalgic threads are in luck, because the school is selling the hats and jerseys on its online store. Only the hat was available on Saturday, indicating that supporters quickly snatched up the retro jerseys. ON OUR RADAR: A midmorning update for local readers Texas State Athletics did not immediately respond when asked about when the jerseys would be back in stock, but other SWT T-shirts are up for grabs on the website.
