The Bride Cast: Julianne Hough Joins Maggie Gyllenhaal’s Frankenstein Movie

This serves as the Dancing with the Stars alum’s big screen comeback after over five years since appearing in the comedy-drama film Bigger. Hough will be joining previously announced cast members Christian Bale, Penelope Cruz, Peter Sarsgaard, Jessie Buckley and Annette Bening.“The film sees a lonely Frankenstein travel to 1930s Chicago to seek the aide of a Dr. Euphronius in creating a companion for himself,” reads the synopsis.

Based on Mary Shelley’s classic gothic novel Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus, The Bride! will be directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal, who is also producing alongside Talia Kleinhendler, Emma Tillinger Koskoff and Osnat Handelsman-Keren. This marks Gyllenhaal’s second directorial project following 2021’s The Lost Daughter, which earned her an Oscar nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay.
