Kate Garraway's husband Derek Draper died in January 2024 died aged 56 following a devastating three year battle with Covid-19.
April 2020 Derek was placed on a ventilator and put in an induced coma after being admitted to the hospital.Kate recalled: "He couldn't really speak to me because of the mask, but he was begging me, 'I feel like I'm suffocating, please let them put me in a coma', because there was a debate about that."
Following the news, Kate bravely returned to her Good Morning Britain role that same month following a four-month break. April 2021 In April 2021, Kate and their children felt overjoyed when Derek was taken off all machines after fighting Covid in the hospital for more than a year. August 2022 Just a few months later, in August 2022, Kate shared that Derek had to be rushed into intensive care after catching a "life-threatening" case of sepsis.
