A friend of Princess Kate says the royal was in a "desperate" situation and was forced to be "so honest" because of wild speculation. In a candid video released on Friday, March 22, Kate sat on a bench surrounded by nature and shared she is undergoing preventative chemotherapy after cancer was found to have "been present" following her planned abdominal surgery in January.
The friend, with whom Kate discussed her plans to make the public statement, said her decision was unexpected and was partly due to the "bull**** out there about her and her family", reports the Times. The friend said: "Catherine's message was so honest. Isn't it sad that she has to be so honest and share that because of all the nonsense that has been around?
"I feel like the whole world has been gossiping about her and there is so much bull**** out there about her and her family. It was almost desperate that she had to do it." Some of the princess's other friends also expressed their frustration that Kate felt the need to address her health in such a straightforward manner, partly to put an end to the wild speculation circulating social media channels in the past weeks.The source also told the Times that the Princess of Wales felt that a written statement would have been too jarring and that she needed to reassure people that she was "well and getting stronger every day".
"When things are really tough, that gratitude to the public for their support is their mantra." According to the same sources, Kate also wants to be able to carry on with her daily life as normally as possible and not have it become a huge issue when she goes to her local farm shop. "Moving forward, they will be very strict on enforcing their right to privacy," said the source.
