Eilish O’Carroll's life with partner Marian, coming out and burying her siblings

Eilish O’Carroll is just as funny on and off the screen. The infectious laugh we know from her role as Winnie McGoogan rings out through The Alex Hotel in Dublin as we shoot on a warm spring Friday. Looking at the sister of comedian and Mrs Brown’s Boys genius Brendan O’Carroll, you would think that life has been easy for her.

I didn’t want to read that somebody else had said that I was gay in the newspaper, so I wrote a show where I shared my story. It was my life story and part of my life was coming out. I remember Brendan warning me to be careful about somebody else going to the newspapers with my story, but I didn’t care because I had told the world.A lot of women in the same position, who probably will never come out, got in touch.
