Now, Variety has revealed that Miles' story is set to continue in a different way during the wait for Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse with a YouTube short. Entitled "The Spider Within: A Spider-Verse Story", the animated short is set close to the events of Across the Spider-Verse and follows Miles as he struggles to "balance his responsibilities as a teenager, friend, student and Spider-Man.

But more than indicating that the studio is keen to keep building the Spider-Verse franchise, Miles' short proves a promising path for Sony to determine how to best expand the universe. While Across the Spider-Verse finally offered some insight for Gwen's backstory, many of the other webslinging variants have yet to be given the same treatment in the mainline movies.
Further shorts would also help Sony gauge how much interest there is from audiences to see spinoffs focused on the various Spider-Verse characters. As fun as a Spider-Ham-led project sounds to some audiences, the overall feasibility and chances at the same financial success as the first two movies would be impossible for the studio to determine without trying out a special short focused solely on him.
