ABC broadcaster James Valentine reveals his cancer diagnosis after choking on curry. He will undergo surgery to remove his oesophagus and takes time off from his radio show. After chemotherapy and radiation, he returns to the show.

ABC broadcaster James Valentine has revealed that he has been diagnosed with oesophageal cancer after choking while eating a curry. He will need surgery to remove his entire oesophagus and is taking several months off from his radio show.

Valentine had a 4cm tumour discovered after a gastroscopy and underwent chemotherapy and radiation. He returned to the show after two years hosting Breakfast.
