AFL superstar Nick Daicos divides internet after Collingwood’s shock loss to St Kilda

The 50th AFL game of young superstar Nick Daicos didn’t quite follow his normally dazzling script. The 21-year-old has enjoyed a charmed start to his football career but he has found himself in an unwanted spotlight during Collingwood’s shaky start to the 2024 season. Last week he was called out when he clearly staged for a free kick during the reigning premiers’ surprise loss to Sydney at the MCG.

The criticism is indeed unfair and fans were quick to hit back. “ Nick Daicos discourse is cooked,” one avid AFL follower blasted on X . “He ain’t Paddy Cripps. It’s OK for him to try to avoid tacklers and use his skills. He also had 31 contested possessions and 17 clearances in the first two rounds.” Cripps is a big-bodied midfield who stands at 195 cm and last weighed in at 96kgs . “ is elite offensively, average defensively.
