A litter of kittens has been dumped at a Perth beach, left for dead in a carrier without food or water on a hot autumn day. The five young domestic shorthairs were found huddled together about 10am on Saturday, with a “free kittens” sign taped to the dark travel crate they were left in. A good Samaritan contacted the Cat Haven, in Shenton Park and drove them in. They didn’t mention which beach they were found at. “We have no idea how long they were there for.
It’s quite dangerous.” The “super sweet” litter will be de-sexed at the weekend, ready for adoption in the coming days. The Cat Haven receives as many as 7000 cats every year, with strays making up about 70 per cent of arrivals. The rest are surrendered by people who can no longer care for them and others, like the kittens at the weekend, are dumped. In another recent incident, a living 17-year-old cat was left inside a bin.
