Why James Martin split from long-term girlfriend after vowing not to marry

Celebrity chef James Martin and his longtime girlfriend Louise Davies were together for 12 years before ending their relationship. The television chef, 51, and TV producer Louise started dating in 2011, after first meeting on the set of Celebrity Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?

The pair lived together in a beautiful house in Hampshire, without ever tying the knot. James offered insight into his feelings about not wanting to wed Louise, suggesting his profession was the reason. He confessed that he'd grown tired of weddings due to often catering for them. James and Louise kept their romance mainly a secret as the TV chef wanted to keep his love life away from the limelight after his split with film producer Barbara Broccoli. While they didn't share many details about their relationship, James confessed in an interview in 2017 that he was the happiest he had ever been while he was in a relationship with Louise.

They even decided against having children together, due to James being 'too devoted to his work'. In an old interview, he revealed the real reason he and Louise didn't have kids was because he was "so focused on work". "The biggest low of my career is that I've given up everything for it," he shared with Prima magazine back in 2020.
