Hawthorn captain James Sicily and Essendon star Mason Redman have both been suspended for separate incidents during Saturday’s fiery clash at the MCG. Sicily was banned for one match for kicking Andrew McGrath in the first quarter, while Redman copped the same punishment for striking Jai Newcombe.

Redman and Newcombe clash off the ball. The Hawks’ captain, who was last year banned for three games for rough conduct, has been charged with kicking McGrath with intentional conduct, medium impact and body contact. Redman appeared to catch Newcombe high with both hands in a striking motion, but it looked like it was with an open hand. His strike was graded as intentional, high contact and low impact.
