While Welling donned a version of the Superman Returns costume in the Smallville series finale, this iteration of the suit is more reminiscent of Christopher Reeve's uniform from his Superman movies.
There is also the notion of a Smallville movie, as Welling spoke recently on the TalkVille Podcast about being open to the idea of a special film reunion. The only thing that may prevent that at the moment is the launch of James Gunn's DC Universe, as that will be the main priority for the foreseeable future for DC Studios.
