Making a successful spinoff is no certainty, and there are plenty of bad TV spinoffs which prove this point. Choosing the right characters and the right setting is vital, but even then there are added challenges.

9 Daria Spinoff of Beavis and Butt-Head Close Daria gives its characters a new art style, so the show doesn't even visually resemble Beavis and Butt-Head. 6 Mork & Mindy Spinoff of Happy Days Happy Days had a total of seven spinoffs, including two animated shows. Some like Laverne & Shirley, while others like Joanie Loves Chachi couldn't recapture the success of the original. Of all the Happy Days spinoffs, Mork & Mindy was by far the strangest. Mork appeared in one episode of Happy Days, but he was so unexpectedly popular that a spinoff was inevitable.
