Spanish artist Teresa Lanceta speaks at a show devoted to her work at the Meadows Museum at Southern Methodist University.tap into multicultural traditions of rugs and quilts. With a Ph.D. in art history, Lanceta has drawn inspiration from Roma and Moroccan weavers, but there are also links to modern abstract art. are painted patches of heavy fabric stitched together with string.

Comprising only nine works, two of them pencil-on-paper designs for others, this is the Meadows’ first show devoted to a textile artist. It’s part of an ongoing collaboration with Fundación ARCO, a leading promoter of contemporary Spanish art., Special Contributor. Former staff classical music critic Scott Cantrell continues contributing as a freelance writer on classical music and art.
