Angus Brayshaw has returned to footy after Melbourne handed him an off-field coaching role, 7NEWS Melbourne’s Mitch Cleary has revealed. Brayshaw was medically retired from the AFL last month, and can never play contact sport again, after recent scans confirmed a further deterioration in his brain as a result of concussion from repeated head knocks. But the Demons are determined to keep him around after his 167-game playing career was cut short.
The 28-year-old has been on a long road to recovery following the controversial hit from Brayden Maynard that knocked him out during the Dees’ qualifying final loss to Collingwood last year. It was the latest and most jarring in a string of concussions throughout the former player’s career.
